Received a suspicious call that seemed like spam around XXXX time frame regarding apartment resided in 1 year ago having balance to pay to collection. Called apartment and they verified no debt owed and stated was likely a scam. Noticed on XXXX XXXX collections on credit report. Called apartment again ( XXXX XXXX ) and they verified again, no debt owed and ccd me on email to XXXX XXXX this needed to be fixed. Contacted Genesis and spoke with XXXX ( XXXX? ) XXXX he aggressively told me I owed money and wouldnt allow me to explain this was not true and I had statement of proof to submit and request how to submit. He said it was an excuse and I owed and knew how to login to a portal to pay because of communications and correspondence. Told him I never received notice which he said was a lie. He told me I was given a case number of sorts and I told him I didnt have because I never received contact and just wanted to submit the invoice I have stating XXXX owed. He was extremely rude and said I received calls, texts, phones calls and to stop playing XXXX and just pay. I tried to submit into their portal and couldnt because it asked for company. I sent inquiry via site and received no response. I called later in afternoon and spoke with XXXX who said only I could email her and they couldnt email me with contact info on how to submit via email. I called XX/XX/22 genesis and was connected to XXXX XXXX again and asked for update on dispute- he only stated how to pay and I told him I spoke with him yesterday and was unable to use portal as he stated I should be able to. He started getting rude so I asked to speak with supervisor as I was suspicious to their dealings and professionalism and he was rude and transferred me. I spoke with XXXX XXXX and told him my issues and he stated they misspoke previously about portal and I could send PDF to him directly. I asked him why I was never contacted about and only seen on credit report and he stated they could not call me until correspondence and said it was my fault I didnt provide forwarding information to apartment. I stated apartment was given and they clearly had all my information ( phone, email ). He then gave me email and phone number. I again iterated that asked to clarify that XXXX told me they attempted text, phone, email which was not accurate because XXXX just stated they couldnt without correspondence via mail first. He immediately retracted and tried to get off phone with me. I told them I was detailing and documenting any and all information going forward as I was sure their business practices did not align with federal laws. I attempted to send email to him with document of PDF with stating no balance and received an email back that stated his email was not valid and not able to send.
