I started getting phone calls about this debt in summer of XXXX This was for an account that I had to pay off in order to cancel my internet services through them and get service from a new provider. It was required that I paid it off at the time of cancellation. When I started getting these calls from the debt collector, I contacted XXXX XXXX directly and was told they no longer had any information about my account in their system and that I would have to go through the debt collection agency. I requested written documentation of the debt from this debt collection agency multiple times and nothing was ever mailed or emailed to me regarding the debt. In possibly XXXX of XXXX this debt was transferred to another debt collection agency ( I believe it's transworld collections ). I started getting calls from them, requested written documentation again of whatever the charges were ( around {$460.00} ) and after a month of not receiving any additional info from anyone, I filed a dispute on my credit report for this charge. I called Transworld XXXX weeks ago and was told that because it's being disputed, they are still " on hold '' with this account and can not provide me any information until the dispute is figured out. I STILL have not received anything in writing about what they claim I owe or why I would owe it. I didn't hear about this debt from XXXX XXXX, ever. The first I heard about it was XXXX years after I closed my account with them. I never got anything in the mail, I never got a phone call, and I successfully cancelled my service with them and got it through someone else with NO COMMUNICATION ABOUT AN OUTSTANDING DEBT. This is knocking my credit down XXXX points and it's been XXXX months since I disputed with absolutely no resolution and STILL not written communication pertaining to the debt.
