On XXXX XX/XX/year>, I requested an online savings account with BMO Alto. At the time, I wished to add my husband as a joint signer. My husband already exists as a joint signer on another account with BMO Alto. This extant account is in place for almost a year, and with a satisfactory history. The joint applicant request was declined, with no reason ( s ) provided either via the e-mail or when I spoke with a representative. The representative advised that I " make another application as there may have been a typo when completing the joint applicant form. '' On XXXX XX/XX/year>, I followed this advice from the BMO Alto representative but the same result occurred. Another opaque e-mail with no decline details, and another conversation with another BMO Alto representative which went nowhere. Again, I was told to " reapply as that was all they are allowed to tell clients. '' So now I am advised to apply again. I can not see the logic here. More troubling, though, is that BMO Alto is not giving us any reason ( s ) why they can not accommodate the joint signer request. Not just frustrating, but this is unfair of BMO Alto 's refusal to give us details to address and remedy whatever it is that is coming up in BMO Alto 's systems and which is prohibiting us moving forward on our request. There are no blemishes of which I am aware on either of our credit and financial profiles. We hold many accounts jointly at a variety of other banks and brokerages.
