On XX/XX/XXXX I made an online purchase for roughly {$53.00} USD to a local restaurant using an AMEX virtual gift card. The website made an error while checking out and said the payment didn't go through, and to select another form of payment, so I used my personal debit card instead. The next day I went to use the gift card again and noticed there was a pending payment from the restaurant for the {$53.00}. I called customer service and they could not in any way understand what happened was not fraud. It was only an error. They gave me a case number and said the process will take nearly 2 months to resolve. I checked the gift card recently and noticed the pending payment has been removed. It might have been resolved when the restaurant ran the month-end duties. I called the gift card company back to tell them everything appeared to be resolved and the remaining balance was correct, but they are telling me it will still take another 45 days for the issue to resolve. They are not understanding it is not a case of fraud. All that's left on the card is {$69.00} and I would just like to use it and be done with it. The customer service is absolutely awful and of completely no help at all.
