Consumer Narrative

The account in question is with Capital One ( Walmart ). I had a balance of {$4800.00}, on my Capital One Visa. I made a payment, paying off the total amount of {$4800.00}, on XXXX XXXX XXXX. It was also posted to the account on XXXX XXXX XXXX. It posted as having come out of my XXXX checking account on XXXX XXXX XXXX. Today, XXXX XXXX XXXX, I attempted to use the card to make ax purchase and it was declined. The balance on my card was correct, but the available credit is stating {$32.00}. According to this information it was as if no payment had been made at all. I phone Capital One customer service. The first representative told me that my payment was " too large '' so they put it on hold and won't release it for 7 days. The payment was made via direct banking from the bank account. I work in online payments and I know that it only takes 24 hours for those types of payments. So Capital One thinks it can sit on our money for 6 extra days and draw interest while the funds are inaccessible to us? The representative sent me to an Account Specialist. The AS was impossible to understand. She couldn't even understand the basic account math I provided to her. Eventually she began asking me for my Social Security Number. I explained to her that I would provide her with my last 4 digits, but that she should already have that in information. Keep in mind that I already proven my identity several times at this point. I asked for the next level of support. After 40 minutes she finally transferred me to the Security and Fraud Department. This was more of the same, but at least this gentleman was easier to understand. In the end I never got the help that I needed. I guess they just figure that nearly {$5000.00} is gone from my XXXX Checking Account, but that's not really their problem. How can they just take {$5000.00} and have no more accountability than this?
