I contacted InComm by phone on XX/XX/year> ( XXXX ). I was given a {$200.00} XXXX XXXX card for XXXX. I attempted to use the card on XX/XX/year> and there were XXXX dollars on the card because a fraudster somehow stole the card and used the funds in XXXX separate transactions on XX/XX/year>. When I attempted to use the card on XX/XX/year>, the card was still in the untampered package. The merchant tried to scan it and it did not go through. I called the # on the back of the card and discovered the card had {$0.00} remaining. InComm took my dispute ( XXXX ) and required that I provide my name, DOB and mailing address. I completed all the requested paperwork, but today they emailed me requesting that I send them copies of the original packaging, front and back. This is no problem but they also want a copy of my receipt. I don't have a copy of the original purchase because the card was a gift. I'm escalating this issue to the CFPB now because I know that without the proof of purchase, InComm is going to deny my request. InComm should know what specific store received a card and they should be able to make a reasonable decision based on where the card was purchased ( Georgia ) versus where the charges occurred. There are several outstanding lawsuits against InComm for shoddy security practices or potential internal company fraud.
