I logged into the American Express website as an existing card holder and was offered a bonus offer of XXXX points if I applied for the XXXX XXXX. I have never had the XXXX XXXX before, and I was excited about the generous welcome offer. I signed up for the card, met the minimum spend of {$8000.00} in short order. When the bonus wasn't posted, I reached out to American Express. They informed me that the bonus had in fact been denied. They stated that I must have been shown a pop-up window indicating that the bonus was denied during the application process. In fact, I was never shown any such pop-up window. If I had been, I never would have proceeded with the application. The whole reason I applied for the card was the XXXX point bonus offer. I appealed to American Express internally and they informed me that the bonus had been denied. They offered no reason for the denial, and no evidence that the bonus had been denied at any point. I feel like I was subject to a bait and switch, and it has been extremely frustrating.
