I mistakenly made an early credit card payment in the amount of {$4600.00} to Capital One on XX/XX/2024. The amount that I meant to pay was the last statement balance of {$3300.00}. I called Capital One and asked for a refund of the difference ( total statement Vs. previous statement ) and they said that they are unable to process a refund and that I should contact my bank to try to issue a stop payment. I was unable to issue a stop payment because the payment had immediately processed. Capital One refuses to issue a refund & say there is nothing they can do. The credit card payment is not officially due until XX/XX/2024. This is an honest mistake, should be reversible, and I assume happens all the time. The credit card company is collecting payments early, processing payments instantly, not refunding overpayments, and have XXXX day review processing times. This is not fair for the consumer because it usually takes XXXX days for a bank account charge to clear and there is no time ( with capital one ) to issue a stop payment to the bank. The credit card company refuses to issue any refund whatsoever and I need that {$1300.00} in my checking account to pay other bills that can not be paid with a credit card. .
