i vacated of the premises on XX/XX/, due to landlord and i came to an agreement since they wanted to sell their rental property, and i was there for already 7 years it was time, after an overwhelming sudden death of my mother who lived right around the corner and just the property wasnt properly maintained far as repairs by the landlord, so maybe the furnace was the reason i was billed high but the heat was rigged up by the landlord/mainteance man who would come each year to replace certain components in the unit, and instead of putting new venting and fixing the airducts he would just take a broom and sweep dust, and my kids had XXXX XXXX, and there was mold in the unit, and anythime it gets cold during the winter months since we had upstairs and downstairs it takes a small amount of heat upstairs and it would be so cold, i had to purchase the ceramic efficient heaters that assist with energy saving so it used electricity and not gas, so my gas bill should have not been that high but they said i signed up for a therm that i didnt intentionally mean to because i was contacting them on their site and trying to get info about a lower fee and unbeknownst to me i did accidentally hit the higher themr and when i called them to rectify the situation they told me its too late and that i had to wait til the time perisod expired or something, i told them i was moving soon, and they told me well if youre moving you have to take our service regardless where you move because youre under a contract but i was like " huh ''? im like what if i move to another city/ state, and thye said still i had to use their service which was never heard of, i guess it depends which customer service agent gets on the phone. i tried my best to not turn the heater on to the house because my landlord/maintenaceman had the thermastat rigged up where i would of had to turn the heater on 80 degrees for it to completely come on and even after complaining he still woulldnt adjust it, he was fugal, mistreated me while i lived there despite a good tenant, paid on time each month, and he still would never fix it so i just used my ceramic heaters, but before i moved i made several of calls to the gas company and they knew i was moving and they still was billing me for another month... i paid pay as you go for electric so that varied based off usage per day so i used more electricity than gas, i barely turned my stove on due to the cost and the fact we were never home really so idk how it was that high, but they did say i was under a contract so they had to continue to bill me {$100.00} plus a month i think thats a scam especially if its a variable rate and fixed rate and youre not using it they just say whatever you dont use we will subtract if tor the following month in which they did not ever do.
