I received several emails from Chime about a new account that was opened, and to link my direct deposit to fund it, and to expect my physical card in the mail. They had my email, and my mailing address correct. I then received several more emails about money I had sent to others. When I called Chime to report a fraudulent account, they wanted my full name and the last four of my social. I was hesitant to give them this, but I did. They confirmed an account was opened, and they would immediately close it and that I would not be responsible for any charges. I then asked for an email stating all of this, and they agreed and sent it out immediately. Their customer service seemed very familiar with this type of call and problem, so it makes you wonder why Chime doesn't do a better job of verifying people?
