On XX/XX/2024 my password didn't work on TransUnion website. After retrieving my online account, I discovered that someone hacked into my online account and changed the password and email address on file. I corrected all information again instantly. On XX/XX/2024 I contacted TransUnion fraud department and spoke with an agent named XXXX XXXX ref # XXXX ) and explained someone hacked into my account. I asked for an extra layer of security on my account such two-factor authentication or email/text notification services. XXXX declined that such services are not provided at TransUnion and was able to put a fraud alert on my account. On XX/XX/2024 I discovered that a credit freeze has been temporarily lifted on my online account. I instantly put the freeze back on and called. I spoke with XXXX XXXX ( File # XXXX ) who confirmed that someone earlier called in and made a verbal request to lift the freeze with my personal information including social security number. I asked if they can provide any extra layer of security on my online account such as two-factor authentication. She stated that TransUnion doesn't provide such services. When she was trying to put a password on my credit security, she notified me that she is not able to do that anymore because the system blocked the credit freeze feature on my account. She furthermore confirmed that the credit freeze can be requested by only mail and you only need a written letter and a copy of ID. I suspect that this person has a copy of my ID along with other sensitive personal information and I'm not feeling confident with TransUnion 's capability to protect my credit. There has been multiple attempts by an unknown person to break into my account and to lift the credit freeze. TransUnion agents are not able to provide any security measures to further protect my credit and information.
