We began our account with Capital One on XX/XX/XXXX. We have made on-time payments every month. sometimes additional payments. We even paid off the card this past XXXX unfortunately we had some property damage which made XXXX max out the card. In XXXX our minimum payment was increased from {$35.00} to {$97.00}. We struggled to make each payment faithfully. On XX/XX/XXXX I scheduled our payment as I have always done but it was rejected my XXXX card XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX so I used the XXXX account ( routing # and account # ) process. On XX/XX/XXXX I was notified my payment had been returned ( accusing my bank of being at fault ). Then Capital One penalized me with a PAST DUE fee of {$28.00}. I made a payment of {$95.00} on XX/XX/XXXX then on XX/XX/XXXX hit me with interest charges of {$69.00}. We made another payment of {$75.00} on XX/XX/XXXX with an additional payment of {$500.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX logged into the account to see if Capital One accepted XXXX payment that is when we noticed our account had been restricted. So we called XXXX service and the automated service stated the account was closed, must contact XXXX Service after XXXX XXXX XXXX on Monday XXXX XX/XX/XXXX ( the duration of the call was over XXXX minutes ). We were told we breached their contact with another account. We asked for clarification. They told XXXX XXXX times we were being recorded on a recorded line and I told them I was recording them as well, they told me it was against the law to record them. We were never notified of their decision to close XXXX account. They informed us they closed the account due to the returned check, ( which I stated they penalized us with a charge of {$28.00}. Also, I noticed they took XXXX rewards away as another penalty. If every creditor would close accounts due to XXXX payment discrepancy I would think they would never make money. Nowhere on the statement XX/XX/XXXX- XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX, stating the account was closed.
