This is my second attempt to get help from an outside agency for this problem. I sent my complaint to XXXX in NY re American Express. I was told the company was sending me a written response by mail. After almost 3 weeks, I never received it! Did they lie about this? Looks that way! Here are the details of my complaint. Blue Cash everyday card~ Am Exp # ending in XXXX I am a retired senior citizen filing an American Express complaint after being a satisfied customer of American Express for XXXX years. I was a consumer who paid my bill in full on time, put everything on auto pay, and was very conscientious about keeping my payments up to date and my credit report clean. Due to lack of action and correction on the part of AMEX, our relationship reached a tragic end. heres what happened - I had to receive an XXXX XXXX XXXX last XXXX ( XXXX ) and asked the XXXX staff to run it through my insurance which they said they did, however, after receiving the shot I was presented with a {$62.00} bill. I went round and round with them, and they refused to correct the issue. When I spoke with XXXX staff they said it shouldve been covered at 100 % XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I decided to dispute the charge with American Express explaining all the details to XXXX different supervisors on different days and times. They offered to remove different amounts from my bill but couldn't get the {$62.00} amount correct. I dont know why. After all this time and frustration, I finally told American Express I would be closing the account. I had held this open for a long time with a perfect payment record. I closed the account then I got a notice that they had recognized my disputed charge and removed it! The account was then officially closed. They decided to continue to charge fees, interest and other charges on the outstanding {$62.00} which had not been removed at the time of the account closing.! Is it legal to assess these fees retroactively? Once a disputed charge has been removed? They have run up a bill against me now for over {$730.00}. This is financial fraud and must be stopped.! This is creating economic hardship for me, in addition to negative credit report issues! What can be done about a company that refused to work in good faith with a valued client over a payment/dispute issue which was clearly presented ... and eventually resolved! My XXXX credit score was XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX prior this event. Now, as a result of AMEX s reckless, unethical mismanagement of my account, it stands at XXXX! This is devastating to me, a retired XXXX XXXX XXXX on a fixed income ; particularly during this high inflationary environment. American consumers should not be forced to deal with unethical conduct in a Company like American Express! Where is the consumer protection? I look forward to your reply!
