On XX/XX/2023, at approximately XXXX CST, I called Equifax and spoke to XXXX ( employee ID : XXXX ). I was informed that in order for Equifax to update my new permanent address, I needed to supply a cover letter with the request, a copy of my State issued ID, and a copy of my social security card. I refused to send this type of sensitive information over mail because of identity theft concerns or that information getting lost in the mail. I asked Equifax if there was another way to verify and why I could not just update my online account with the new address like I did with XXXX and XXXX. I did not receive a good response and instead the agent repeated the only way I could update my address. Equifax has not earned my trust as a consumer with my sensitive data and I am shocked there are not less burdensome and archaic ways for a consumer to execute this request.
