I woke up this morning around XXXX Eastern time because I had heard my phone ding. There was an email from XXXX stating that there was a new inquiry on my credit report, when I logged in there was a hard inquiry from capital one today. I have no applied for a capital one credit card and I have no submitted a request for one. I contacted XXXX and filed a dispute, I also filed one with XXXX. XXXX advised me to contact the bank Capital One. I was told by a representative that someone did try to open a card in my name and that they would decline the application due to me letting them know someone had used my social security number unknowingly. I told them that if it werent for experian emailing me and letting me know about the inquiry I wouldve never knew someone tried to get a card in my name. Especially due to me not getting an alert from capital one or anything. I do not have any accounts with capital one and I have never applied for a capital one card.
