My wife and I were bumped from an international XXXX flight XXXX XXXX weekend, 2023. We were promised {$2000.00} in compensation. Turns out the compensation is in the form of gift cards only. Thinking them the safest and most easily used, I selected {$1000.00} of that amount to be in the form of American Express gift cards... they were available only in {$200.00} increments. Which means I have XXXX of them to use. I activated them as instructed. Since that time I have tried using them on multiple websites and they continually decline for no apparent reason : XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, etc. The customer service number on the card takes you to an automated system only, with no human available to explain why the cards continually decline. They are set to expire at the end of XXXX and I have NO recourse. I will lose the {$1000.00} since I am not able to find any company who is able to process them.
