My husband and I moved out of an apartment in XXXX XXXX XXXX, Utah, in early XX/XX/XXXX. At that time we were told in writing by the management that we would be liable to pay rent only until the unit was re-rented. We left the apartment in move-in condition by having it professionally cleaned, and there was no damage of any kind when we left it. The apartment was indeed re-rented within the same month. In XX/XX/XXXX we were contacted by the apartment 's owner with an indication that the balance of the rent was owing. I responded with their XXXX 's email confirming that we were liable only for the period of time the apartment was unoccupied. That's the last I heard on the matter until recently. In XX/XX/XXXX I was contacted by Columbia Debt Recovery LLC, dba Genesis. I followed the response instructions in their email, again forwarding all of the information that supported my claim that not only do I not owe them anything, but they owe me for funds not properly returned. There was no response. I received another contact from Genesis on XX/XX/XXXX notifying me of the same debt. I replied yet again in the same manner as before. There was no response. I recently received a notice from XXXX XXXX that Genesis has reported this debt to credit bureaus.
