FNBO, who issues credit cards for XXXX XXXX ( and other purchases ) markets a credit card that gives different levels of cash back for grocery purchases ( 3 % ), Restaurants ( 3 % ), Other than Gas purchases as XXXX and XXXX stations ( 5 % ), and all other purchases ( 1 % ). However, there is no where online or on my statement that tells me what level of reward I have earned for groceries ( and doesn't tell me if a particular store is considered to be a grocery store ). I spoke with XXXX in their customer service department today on XX/XX/2023, who told me that XXXX determines the type of store category with the store. OK, but it should not be a secret. It should be transparent to a customer which category a particular store is in. For example, the online list of transactions tells me that a restaurant name IS a restaurant and that a payment made IS listed as uncategorized because it gets no points. Every other transaction is categorized as EVERYDAY PURCHASE including spends on gasoline and grocery stores. If the company does not want to indicate which stores it considers to be a grocery store online in the listing of reward transactions, then it should have a web page showing an alphabetic list of grocery store names so that a consumer can make " informed '' decisions about how they wish to pay in a particular store. Also, there is no way for a customer to verify that the amount of rewards they received each month is correct -- this should be transparent.
