I applied for an apartment online with XXXX corners apartment XXXX i used my XXXX debit card thy charged me {$220.00} in Texas they take their money first for the application and admin fee. i went on about my life and the other apartment i applied for i got so i moved their fast forward XX/XX/2023, somehow, I'm in collections for a debt that was paid up front however i didn't know I was in collections till XX/XX/2023 when I applied for another apartment. they told me that i owed for back rent to Columbia debt collections dba as genesis. i asked them for the information they gave it to me so i called them an told this this was not correct i paid the original owner i had the receipt and my bank statements to prove it. they told me i wrote a check and i owed {$150.00} it bounced and i stated i do not owe and i never wrote a check and i know for a fact they got paid i sent in the recepit and they still say i owe them {$150.00} when i ask how did they get that amount when the original debt i paid upfront was {$220.00} they can't tell me i need this removed from my record as this information is not vaild.they are knowing breaking consumer law
