Consumer Narrative

On XX/XX/2023 I aquired a loan from TitleMax XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX. XXXX. The amount financed was {$6000.00}. When I was financed the process ( contract ) is done on a screen with the TitleMax XXXX explaining the contract as you " click to accept '' the terms. I was told and explained that the interest rate is high so I should make my payments on time and not to get extra money when approved for more. I explained that I just wanted a one time loan. I was told verious stories of previous customers who have done this in the past and have accrued amounts up to $ XXXX. The gentleman joked at the amount. I told him I would pay it off quickly and not get any more money. My payments I have already made and dates are listed below. XXXX - XXXX, {$950.00} XXXX - XXXX, {$820.00} XXXX - XXXX, {$900.00} XXXX - XXXX, {$800.00} XXXX - XXXX, {$720.00} XXXX - XXXX, {$850.00} XXXX - XXXX, - {$850.00} Total : {$6900.00} XXXX borrowed {$6000.00} on XX/XX/2023 I have paid back {$6900.00}. I called to get a remainder balance so I could close my loan. I was sure it would just be a couple hunded dollars or at most, another monthly payment. I haven't been able to keep track due to TitleMax having issues with their apps and website in the past months so I call in my payment usually. They recently fixed it. I was able to make my last payment online and that is why I called Titlemax. They still stay I owe a balance today of {$6500.00} How is this legal? fair credit? I made my payments and more than was asked on time, and did not get more money when asked and approved. I just paid back what I borrowed plus $ XXXX and they say I still owe more than what I was loaned. I am now getting behing in making rent payments and other neccessary bills due to this company. They called me on Saturday at XXXX and asked for payment. I told them that I would have to make payment on the next Friday. I was then reamed about the contract that I signed and that they need payment that day or else! I told them to leave me alone and that I was going to report them. I told the lady when I could pay and then made to feel like XXXX and literally XXXX me off. That call alone I feel they are in violation of 15 U.S.C 1692 ( D ) ( 2 ). The use of obscene or profane lanquage or language the natural consequence of which is to abuse the hearer or reader. 15 U.S.C 1692 ( C ) ( A ). A debt collector may not communicate with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt. I know I am protected under the FDCPA - Civil Liability and under damages could be awarded up to {$1000.00} per violation if taken to court and persued. I will If need be. Right now I just want my loan marked as paid off and closed. I also want it reported to the consumer credit bureau that it is paid off in good standing. I let them know that I am disputing the loan contract and amount. That should also be submitted to the credit bureaus and if not, they are again in violation. In short. The last time I called to complain about my contract and try to get help, I called Titlemax and spoke with the Manager. I asked why my amount still showed what I borrowed, she explained that the total was what I still owed. I nearly fainted, cried, got pissed and all the above. I held my composure because I am a professional but she explainded to me that these loans are for people with not so good credit and for individuals that can not go to their banks. I was floored and wished I recoreded this. That means ... the owners are asking the poor, or people hurting, their own comunnity who needs a leg up... to pay {$30000.00} on a {$6000.00} loan. That is stealing from the poor to give the owners at an interest rate that should not be legal or allowed. It is set up to where every two weeks, about when the average american gets paid, the amount of their payment just goes to interest and the smallest fraction to actually paying off the loan. I feel violated in many ways by this company and would greatly appreciate your help. I know alot of our community would as well.
