Opened secured credit builder account with Self credit card in XXXX requiring a security deposit. Company sent notice of account closure on XX/XX/XXXX. Was informed any balances owed would be deducted from security deposit and the balance of that would be mailed to me via a check. Received the check in mid XXXX of XXXX of {$640.00}. However, account was never closed. Self is stating i owe {$160.00} which is the result of interest and late fees that has accumulated over the past 18 months due to Self refusing to close the account. they are telling me they will not close the account until I pay the interest and late fees. They have been reporting me to the credit bureau as late and missing payments on an account that should have been closed with a {$0.00} balance. I have requested they close the account to which they are stating they will close it once I make the payment. I have requested they remove the additional fees which they refuse. This is fraud. Im being charged bogus fees and if I do no pay them, they will continue to report me negatively to the credit bureau
