On XXXX I went to merchant and made a purchase for {$81.00} in the drive through. I accidentally left card in drive through at merchant and pulled off. Before i could even get a block away I realize this and turn around. As im sitting in the drive through a second time to get my card I get a text notification that someone at the merchant had made a {$320.00} purchase on my card. I immediately hop out of the drive through and go inside of the store to find out whats going on. When I explain to the employee up front what happened she goes to the back for about 10 minutes to talk to her manager. Im sitting on hold trying to get ahold of capital one when the manager comes from the back and strangely hands me my card and apologizes saying the charge will be reversed and it was a mistake. I dont know how you mistakenly charge a card that isnt yours {$300.00} plus dollars but thats what i was told, and to wait 3 days for it to clear. So I call capital one that same day anyway and explain the situation. The rep tells me to wait to see if it reverses before filing a claim and ordering a new card because it could mess with the transaction if I flat out cancelled my card. So i instead locked it to wait and see and sure enough the charge posted. So i call capital one again and explain the situation to a new rep who honestly seemed like he didnt know what was going on or how to do anything on his end. So i had to call back again once he said he couldnt or didnt know how to file a claim which was insane. So on XX/XX/ with the final rep i explain the situation and they go ahead and cancel my card and file the claim. There is absolutely no way they actually investigated the claim as they ended up filing a resolution saying that I benefitted from it which theres no way I could benefit from this purchase. There are cameras at the merchant everywhere and now im being forced to pay for something I didnt buy when a simple investigation, or rather an actual investigation would let you know I did not make this charge.
