I applied for and was approved for a CapitalOne Venture card on XX/XX/XXXX. I received notification that it had shipped on XX/XX/XXXX. When the card had still not arrived, I called CapitalOne customer service on XXXX and XXXX. The first rep told me USPS had sent the card back and then I would have to wait until it returned. The second rep I spoke to on XXXX issued me a new card and said I would have to verify my identity by sending me a code by text message. I verified my identity this way when I first applied on XX/XX/XXXX, because I had trouble setting up my online account. This time the rep sent the text message and it did not go through to my phone. This was attempted twice and it didn't work either time. The rep then told me I would have to submit a photo of the front and back of my driver license for verification, and that it would take an additional 10 days on top of the two weeks I had already been waiting. The photos of the driver license are not blurry and I have used them for insurance purposes in the past. I submitted photos of my driver license, and then followed up on XX/XX/XXXX. Customer service told me the photos were blurry and that I should have been contacted to submit a better image. I was not contacted about this, and furthermore I already have a bank account with CaptialOne, including a debit card that was successfully mailed to me and activated. They know who I am. There is no reason for this verification. There is likely a technical issue with their system, because I was verified before over the phone by text message. I should not be penalized for their issue. Additionally, there is a sign-up bonus associated with this card, and it includes a spending requirement that must be met within 3 months of opening the card. CapitalOne has already wasted a month of my time dealing with this, which could lead to me not receiving the sign-up bonus and other benefits of using the card.
