Hello, I recently took a big hit to my credit score for an unknown balance that I had with Discover after canceling my card with them. I'm hoping that I can have the damage reversed. What happened is I canceled my card in XX/XX/2023 after deciding it wasn't useful anymore. I paid off any remaining balance and cancelled over the phone. Just now, I saw that my credit score has gone down by XXXX points owing to delinquency on a Discover account. I logged in to find that they claim I owe {$8.00} based on some adjustments that happened following account closure. I immediately paid the {$8.00} and called them to ask that the delinquency is removed from their reporting as it had a big impact on my credit score. They said that I would have to contact your office to make the request. Again, I immediately reconciled the amount once I saw it reflected on my score. I had no notification from them about there being an outstanding balance, and had tried in good faith to pay the card off in full at time of closure ( it was only ~ {$4.00} and change to close it at that time ).
