I enrolled in a debt consolidation program, who settled with the creditor for {$830.00}, on XX/XX/2023. This amount was more than double what I owed, prior to starting the program, original balance was {$370.00}. I requested this card be canceled and was told that because they received payment, one day after the billing cycle closed, that they could not close the account because I owed interest on the full amount, for that one day. The settlement amount was agreed upon on the XX/XX/XXXX and they would not accept any other form of payment, other than a mailed check, which they did not cash until the XXXX. The billing cycle ended on the XXXX and so they stated that because they did not receive the payment before the billing cycle ended, I would be charged interest on the full amount, for that day. This was after they accepted the settlement amount from the debt consolidation company. I've attempted to settle this by calling the creditor and speaking with their customer support representatives and was unable to get anywhere with them. They suggested I submit a written dispute, which I did on XX/XX/2023. I have never received any follow up on this, no email or phone correspondence. I've attempted to call them about this dispute and no one seems to know anything about it and they continue to charge me interest on an amount that was paid and agreed upon by both the consolidation company and the creditor. They have also continued to report this as a delinquent account on my credit. This is absolutely predatory and they should not be able to operate like this, their customer service is nothing but a collection agency. They're scripted to say what they need to get you to pay and you can never get anywhere with your dispute.
