I recently discovered that I had a few accounts under my name that I myself had not opened. I only found out about them because I was continuously receiving calls about different accounts being sent to collection ( which at first I thought was just a scam call ). It wasn't until I went to apply for something and got denied that I finally went to check my credit score and noticed a significant decrease. I seen that a couple loans had been opened and sent to collection, and also that a credit card had also been opened and is on its way to collection with a past due and over limit balance. I have filed with identitytheft.gov and have tried explaining to the companies the situation to no avail. I am not sure who or how my information was acquired, and have limited info on the dates accounts were opened.
