I didnt pay a loan back to XXXX that was entered into on XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of {$19000.00}. On my credit report it showed XXXX balance, closed, written off. In XX/XX/XXXX, a resident from my previous address ( I had moved and filed a change of address on XX/XX/XXXX ) notified me a note had been left on their door. It said they were trying to serve a notice to XXXX XXXX and provided a phone number. I immediately contacted the agent seeking to find out what it was about. I gave her my current address, and was served the notice that I was being sued by Velocity Investments , LLC on XXXX XXXX, XXXX. It was filed on XXXX XXXX. The amount claimed is {$19000.00}. I had no idea who they were or why they were suing me. They did not notify me they bought the debt and I owed them. I had informed delivery thru XXXX and have checked records of mail received at my old address between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. There was no written communication from them. I requested the court dismiss the case but the judge denied the request. I am representing myself because I cant afford an attorney. On XXXX emailed a settlement offer of {$6000.00} to their attorneys. They did not respond to my email. They called me. I called them back and was told if I paid 85 % of the loan within XXXX mos that would be the least they would do. Any other payment plan would be for the full amount.She also told me it would be a judgement regardless of how I paid it. On XX/XX/XXXX I requested via email written instructions on how to repay the debt. They have not responded. I have been unable to work or function as I did prior to this surprise lawsuit. If they had communicated with me I would have taken care of my responsibility without a lawsuit.
