An apartment complex is attempting to collect a debt that is not mine. When I asked for validation of the debt, the company continued to attempt to collect the debt via a phone call a week after my request, without providing the debt validation I requested first. When I asked where the debt validation that I requested was, and that I would like to see it proved to me as my debt, they got very hostile and said they would send it and demanded that I give them an answer of whether or not I planned to pay it. When I said I did not plan to pay a debt that I did not owe, they said that it would be sent to the credit agencies and hung up on me. My understanding is that once I request a debt be validated, they must provide validation before attempting to collect again. Their initial email contact was on XX/XX/XXXX, I asked for debt validation on XX/XX/XXXX. They called me on XXXX to attempt to collect the debt without providing this information. I have yet to see a debt validation letter despite repeated calls to them asking for it.
