I recently received a hardship distribution from my 401 ( k ) account.I then deposited the check into my Wells Fargo account.The very next day I got an alert from Wells Fargo, claiming that they were unable to receive funds from the check and that the funds will be available in my account in two weeks. I called Wells Fargo several times to try and resolve this issue. I called their loss prevention department to have them call the maker of the check to verify and to call the bank to verify the funds were in there. I explain to them that this was a hardship distribution so that the funds were needed urgently I was then informed that I would need something notarized from XXXX XXXX and something notarized from XXXX XXXX, XXXX and order for me to get my funds these funds came directly out of my retirement account. I have never experienced anything like this in my life in regards to depositing a check. This is extremely unethical. And they should be investigated because basically theyre using my funds without giving me access to them. And giving me the runaround
