Consumer Narrative
In XXXX, XXXX, I made a purchase in the amount of {$1700.00} from XXXX. In XXXX I received my products. In XXXX, I was contacted by XXXX 'Chargebacks ' department who informed me the payment was not made for my XXXX items, in the total of {$1700.00}. I was asked to provide bank statements, which I provided in XXXX, XXXX, and again in XXXX, XXXX. After initially sending in my bank statements via email, I was the target of harassing language and was hung up on by XXXX of the XXXX Chargebacks agents. I took my bank statements into my neighborhood XXXX and provided them to a management team member who called Chargebacks on my behalf and told them my bank statements legitimately showed I paid for my items. Later, a different agent contacted me and I was asked to initiate a three-way call with my bank, XXXX XXXX XXXX, which I did and at which point my bank confirmed the amount in question was charged to my account and the funds did transfer from my account to XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ). At the end of this three-way call, the XXXX Chargebacks agent informed me that from what he determined, I was not at fault and the XXXX legal team would have to contact my bank directly since the problem was not mine. ( XXXX bank is who XXXX banks with ) Regardless of the agent 's statement to me, my 'debt ' was sent to a collection agency, National Service Bureau , Inc. ( NSBI ). During our initial phone conversation, the NSBI agent, XXXX XXXX, raised his voice, yelled at me that he was sending my account to collections due to my lack of cooperation, and hung up on me. I called back and was forced to apologize just so he would tell me why I was sent to collections. He told me it was my fault XXXX XXXX had not received their funds and it was my responsibility to prove the debt was paid. This was regardless of the fact that I had provided XXXX months of bank statements. I provided NSBI another copy of my bank statements showing the amount had been charged to my checking account as well as a letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX confirming the charge/transaction was completed on my end. Since XXXX, I have made multiple attempts to contact NSBI, with no response. I continue to receive letters in the mail stating the debt has been sent to collections. I do NOT owe this debt. I have paid for my items and request this harassment and erroneous debt collection stops.
