Consumer Narrative

On XX/XX/2023 i submitted a request to dispute an account that is assumed to be identity theft. Transunion didn't honor my request to block the account. I subsequently placed a Fraud Alert on my credit profile as i continue to pursue further avenues to get these fraudulent accounts removed from my report. I recently received a letter from Transunion on XX/XX/2023 in the form of an unsealed postcard, confirming my action to place a fraud alert on my account. This postcard received was not in a sealed envelope, infact it was simply a postcard with all my information pertaining to the fraud alert, it even included the file number for my account. This postcard which isnt sealed reveals all my private information and actions pertaing to my credit file to whomever handles the mail, including the mail carriers and whoever elses hands it has touched. I called transunion to explain my frustration with allowing my private credit profile information to be revealed, which was ironic because the reason for the fraud alert was due to my private information being leaked on the dark web. The supervisors agreed with me that this was a huge mistake on behalf of Transunion. The supervisor also agreed that this letter is usually in a envelope where no outside party or person can see the information about my report. I'm so upset with Transunion for this mistake and am looking into further litigation on my behalf. I find this to be a breach of confidentiality and handling of my personal information. it's unacceptable. The risk of exposing my information to multiple mail handlers and carriers further adds to my frustration and vulnerability during these increased fraudalent times. I would like action taken against Transunion effective immediately!
