On XX/XX/2023, I pulled my credit report and saw a long list of inquiries that I did not initiate. According to Section 604 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act Permissible Purposes of Consumer Reports 15 U.S. Code 1681b In generals. Subject to subsection ( e ), any consumer reporting agency may furnish a consumer report under the following circumstances and no others : ( F ) otherwise has a legitimate business needed for the informations ( i ) in connection with a business transaction that is initiated by the consumer. Under 15 U.S. Code 1681i, Paragraph ( 5 ) Treatment of Inaccurate or Unverifiable Information ( A ) In general. If, after any reinvestigation under paragraphs ( 1 ) of any information disputed by a consumer, an item of the information is found to be inaccurate or incomplete or can not be verified, the consumer reporting agency shall- ( i ) promptly delete. The hard and soft inquiries noted in the attached credit report are unauthorized. FCRA 605B ( 15 U.S.C. 1681c-2 ) ( a ) Block. Except as otherwise provided in this section, a consumer reporting agency shall block the reporting of any information in the file of a consumer that the consumer identifies as information that resulted from an alleged identity theft, not later than 4 business days after the date of receipt by such agency of ( 1 ) appropriate proof of the identity of the consumer ; ( 2 ) a copy of an identity theft report ; ( 3 ) the identifications of such information by the consumer; and ( 4 ) a statement by the consumer that the information is not information relating to any action by the consumer.
