About 4 hours ago I learned that PNC canceled my debit card and closed a savings account. The debit card is linked to a checking account, which is apparently still open. I received no prior notice about any issues that might have resulted in a violation and subsequent closure. I only learned about it when I went to pay for dinner while on vacation overseas. As a result of the closure, PNC had left me without access to my cash since they were the main account I used during travel. Incredibly poor customer service that absolutely puts people in terrible situations. I don't know why the card was closed and why the account affected- I understand that sometimes it's due to suspicious activities and use of card. I'm someone who works overseas for the US govt in areas that are sometimes fraught with fraud risk and maybe this is part of it? Regardless, the lack of transparency is astounding and lack of any empathy and desire to provide help to your customers is even worse. Despicable.
