Consumer Narrative

On XX/XX/23 I submitted an account dispute to Transunion Credit Reporting Agency through the CFPB portal. The Consumer Credit protection Act, Title VI Consumer Credit Reporting, Section 611 Procedure in case of disputed accuracy ( 84 Stat. 1132 ; 15 U.S.C. 1681i ), clearly states that a consumer reporting agency has no longer than 30 days to complete its reinvestigation. The 60 day timeframe allowed by the CFPB does not apply to credit reporting agencies because by federal law a credit reporting agency has a time limit of 30 days. Before the end of the 30 days Transunion Credit Reporting Agency must update the information as instructed by the consumer or delete any unverified, inaccurate, and incomplete information. This dispute was not settled in the allotted timeframe and must be updated as instructed by me in the dispute notice or deleted. Transunion responded to my dispute on XX/XX/23 which is 40 days, 10 days longer than lawfully allowed. This is a violation of 15 U.S.C. 1681i. When I did finally receive a response on XX/XX/23 it noted that the disputed information is not appearing on my current Transunion report. As of today XX/XX/23 this account that Transunion says in no longer reporting is still currently reporting and must immediately be removed. Attached is a copy of my most recent consumer report and the notice from Transunion informing me that the information is not currently on my report. Lastly, I requested to receive a copy of the description of the procedure used to determine the accuracy and completeness of the information. I never received a description of the reinvestigation procedure. Not delivering a copy of the description I requested is a violation of 15 U.S.C 1681i ( 6 ) ( B ) ( iii ).
