I pulled my credit report and it showed an Amex business account with an outstanding balance. I contacted them and found out that this outstanding balance was created by a charge made that I did not authorize or make. Charge : XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX - {$1800.00} Date XX/XX/XXXX Case ID # XXXX - Card Type : XXXX XXXX XXXX Preferred Guest I spoke with the disputes department who advised me to file a police report for the fraud and send them a letter to dispute the charge with a copy of the police report. I did so on XX/XX/XXXX. I called in last week to check on the status and was told that the case was closed and that they " Validated '' the charge and thus I was responsible for the amount. I asked how they verified the charge and if they had any information I could forward to the police investigator. They would not answer my questions about how they verified the charge only that they did. I am seeking help with resolving this matter as I do not agree that I should be responsible to pay for a charge I did not make. Thank you for your help.
