Consumer Narrative
Hey my name is XXXX XXXX I am writing to express my ongoing concerns regarding the credit bureaus ' compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). Despite multiple attempts on my part to address these issues with the credit bureaus, they continue to disregard the provisions outlined in the FCRA, which is preventing me from getting a job. Ive been hung up on, and shut down on many occasions by the bureaus ' so now Im coming to you guys begging for your help. As per my simple understanding of the FCRA, I would like to draw your attention to the following relevant sections : 1. Section 15 USC 1681i ( 5 ) : This section states that the credit bureaus have a responsibility to modify or delete accounts that are reporting inaccurate information. However, despite presenting evidence of inaccuracies, the credit bureaus have failed to take appropriate action to rectify these discrepancies. 2. Section 15 USC 1681b ( 1 ) : According to this provision, the credit bureaus are required to obtain written permission before disclosing consumer information. It has come to my attention that the credit bureaus have not obtained such permission in certain instances, thereby violating this crucial aspect of consumer privacy. 3. Section 15 USC 1681 : This section establishes my right to privacy as a consumer. I believe that the credit bureaus ' actions, as described in my previous correspondences, have compromised this right by mishandling and disclosing inaccurate information without my consent. 4. Section 15 USC 1681s-2 : This section outlines the obligations of individuals and entities providing information to consumer reporting agencies. It clearly states that information should not be furnished if it is known or reasonably believed to be inaccurate. Despite my notifications and confirmation of errors, the credit bureaus have continued to report inaccurate information, disregarding their obligations under the FCRA. I could continue providing additional examples that illustrate the credit bureaus ' consistent failure to comply with the FCRA. It is disheartening to witness their lack of respect for the laws put in place to protect consumers like myself. I kindly request that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau takes appropriate action to hold the credit bureaus accountable for their non-compliance with the FCRA. It is crucial that steps are taken to ensure that they adhere to the provisions outlined in the act, rectify the inaccuracies in my credit report, and prevent such violations from occurring in the future. Attached to this complaint, you will find copies of the previous correspondence I have had with the credit bureaus, highlighting their lack of compliance, and highlighting the many issues on my report. I trust that this documentation will aid in your investigation and enforcement efforts. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I greatly appreciate your help. My life is put on hold as of right now.
