On or near XX/XX/2022 I notice a fraudulent collection account appear on my credit report XXXX XXXX XXXX. I contacted the creditor and was told this was an old account with my name attached to it but they could not provide any historical data and offered to depute the fraudulent account. As it remained on my credit report I contract Equifax to file a dispute and in 30-Days I was told the company responded with an invoice and that the case was closed. I demanded to speak with the fraud department upon hearing this as this was not a proper investigation, merely uploading an invoice with my name on it barely an investigation and certainly not grounds to close the investgation. I was advise by Equifax to then verify my identity via certified mail, to which I did, and to dispute the fraudulent account again after I prove my identity. The Last step was to file a CFPB complaint and fax it over to Equifax and they would delete the within 2 business days.
