Consumer Narrative
Equifax and XXXX are clearly being administered and handled by the same people as evidenced by the green cards I received back for both. However, these two agencies are not consistent with each other as XXXX appears to be investigating and removing inaccurate information while Equifax sends back correspondence alleging that they investigated and validated the inaccurate information that XXXX removed. Equifax was careless and made a mistake that clearly demonstrates that they are not doing their duty and intentionally violating my rights. On XX/XX/2023 I wrote to EQUIFAX to dispute their allegation that they investigated my dispute into an account on my credit file listed as General Collections and Recoveries. This account does not belong to me. I hired an attorney to represent me and the original creditor for whom " General Collections and Recoveries '' is collecting on behalf of was hired by my attorney to perform work on my behalf. My attorney billed me for the firm 's services and included the original creditor 's charges on that bill and I paid my attorney 's bill. Whether the original creditor was paid by my attorney or not does not pertain to me. The contract/service agreement with the original creditor was made with my attorney, not me, I am simply the subject of the work performed. My agreement with my attorney was to pay all expenses incurred by my attorney to my attorney. Which I did. I am not contractually obligated to the original creditor, only my attorney. All of which I explained in my Equifax disputed letter of XX/XX/2023. To this dispute letter I attached a copy of the notification received from XXXX that XXXX had removed this inaccurate account with General Collections and Recoveries. On XX/XX/2023 I received a response to this XX/XX/2023 dispute sent to EQUIFAX dated XX/XX/2023 which stated that the item I was disputing, General Collections and Recoveries, was not on my credit file. However, the person issuing the response was not paying attention to what they were responding to/who they were responding on behalf of, and were actually referring to the contents of my XXXX credit report, not my EQUIFAX credit report. The General Collections and Recoveries item was removed from XXXX NOT Equifax. The item remains on my Equifax credit report. However, when the same people are in control of two credit bureaus they clearly have trouble remembering that they are responding to a dispute on one credit file and not the other. The person handling my Equifax dispute was looking at my XXXX file and notice of removal and therefore their response to my dispute is based off their review of my XXXX report, not my Equifax report as it should have been. On XX/XX/2023, I received a letter from Equifax Information Systems stating that they are denyingmy request to investigate the erroneous listing of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX my Equifax credit report. I put through an online dispute subsequent to my XX/XX/2023 letter and provided a copy of the invoice from my attorney 's office which substantiates my assertion that I was billed for, and paid, this creditor 's services as part of my attorney 's bill and then the creditor turned around charged me separately. This reference on my credit report is wrong on a number of levels and Equifax still refuses to remove the reference even when provided with proof of all of this.
