I filed an application for a modification ( Partial claim ) with Midland Mortgage. The reasons were for increased expenses for the household and for my recently-diagnosed medical condition. On or about XX/XX/2023, Midland approved said application, but the payments for the modified mortgage has INCREASED the payment by {$400.00} per month. -- - I contacted Midland and asked why, and I was told that my interest rate was being doubled and that the payment was what it was. I asked if anything could be done and the person with whom I spoke said she would check. XXXX specifically asked her if this would affect this plan to ask, and she definitely said NO. *** -- - Nonetheless on XX/XX/2023, I received a default notice in the mail and logged on to see that the approval was changed to a DENIAL! I called and spoke with XXXX, XXXX XXXX, in the mitigation department, and she told me, to my surprise, that I had " refused '' the modification! Which I NEVER did. I was also told that the approved modification was dead and could not be revived. I was also told that I needed to re-apply and the payment could be different ( which I took to be higher ). I also understood that I could be out of luck altogether, because there is some new process where the options would be discussed over the phone ( which eliminates the paper trail, which existed with the prior approved plan ). -- - The end result is that I am losing my house because Midland acted to remove my options and offered a " plan '' that it knew I could not handle.
