On XX/XX/2023, I submitted complaint number XXXX involving Choice Recovery aka Wakefield & Associates XXXX I received an email from CFPB on XX/XX/2023, stating the company has yet to respond to my complaint. On XX/XX/2023, I received an additional email stating that the company this now investigating my complaint and I should have the issue resolved within 60 days from my original complaint which was XX/XX/2023. On XX/XX/2023, I received a notification that Wakefield & Associates had yet again reported a derogatory mark on my credit reports. Then shortly after I received a letter in the mail requesting me to settle with them. My question is if this account was being investigated why and how could the company still destroy my credit and then try to get me to send them money? What part of the investigation is this? The company never addressed the issue at hand about violating my rights. Under { 15U.S.C. 1681e } Nor was the issue addressed regarding the company adding additional fees to the balance. In order for fees to be assessed the company must receive permission from the courts to do so. The company has exceeded the allotted time to respond. Which is 60 days from the filing of my original complaint. Meanwhile, I'm unable to receive approval for a mortgage because this has been lingering for two months. How can this be? CFPB is here to protect consumers from these deceptive practices. This is a XXXX of injustice to further allow this company to violate these laws.
