My problem is with XXXX XXXXXXXX. I do not owe them any money. But after I closed my account, they " claimed '' I still had some of their cable boxes. During the pandemic, they closed all of their offices so you can't deal with anyone in person. You have to return everything in a drop box or mail it to them. After I returned everything, I starting getting these bills saying I owed them for their returned equipment. I call numerous time and told them I had nothing that belong to them. This went back and forth for a couple of months and I assumed everything had been worked out. Then one day out of the blue I was notified by credit monitoring service that I had an account that was now in collection. I checked my credit report and discovered that some company called Eastern Account System had placed this collection on my report. I had NEVER spoken to anyone at this company. My excellent credit score dropped by XXXX points. After disputing the charge, one of the three credit bureaus ( XXXX ) removed it. The other two did not. Then I discovered something else last week. I discovered that one of the local Homeowner Associations has now issued a warning to its members. Everyone in theier association that had dropped XXXX was being hit with this same bogus claim of not turning in their cable boxes and being threatened with collection. This is quite an extortion scheme this company has going. Either pay up or we will turn you over to collections. I did some checking with others and discovered the same thing. This needs to stop and I want my excellent credit restored. This company should also be hit with a class action lawsuit for their business practices.
