In XX/XX/2019, I opened a business phone account with XXXX. In XX/XX/2019, I canceled it. XXXX did not shut it off and it continued to accrue debt for 3 months in the amount of XXXX dollars. I was notified this year by Jefferson Capital group that I owed this money. They are a 3rd party debt collector. After speaking to 15 people at XXXX, I was told there was nothing they could do to help me prove it wasnt my debt as it had already been sold off. Even though they admitted I never should have been charged and it wasnt my debt. Now Jefferson capital is affecting my credit trying to collect this debt that I legally do not owe.
