Consumer Narrative
Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ), I am writing to file a complaint against Equifax Credit Reporting for their inaccurate and fraudulently reporting of the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) account number : XXXX XXXX. The information being reported by Equifax Credit Reporting is inaccurate and is violating several laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I have reviewed my credit report and found that Equifax Credit Reporting is reporting inaccurate information regarding the addresses associated with this account. They are also reporting the following addresses : " XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, CA XXXX '' and " XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, CA XXXX. '' However, I have never lived at these addresses nor have I authorized to report these addresses to Equifax Credit Reporting. As per 15 USC 1681i ( 5 ), it is the responsibility of the credit bureaus to modify or delete accounts that are not reporting accurately. However, despite my efforts, Equifax Credit Reporting has failed to take any corrective action. They continue to report false information, which is affecting my credit score and ability to obtain credit. Moreover, as per 15 USC 1681b ( 1 ), credit bureaus must have written permission from consumers to report their information. However, Equifax Credit Reporting has reported my XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) account without my written permission, which is a clear violation of this law. Furthermore, as per 15 USC 1681, I have the right to privacy, which has been completely disregarded by Equifax Credit Reporting. According to 15 USC 1681s-2, a person shall not furnish any information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if the person knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate. The credit bureau has been notified of the inaccuracies, yet they continue to report false information. Therefore, I demand that Equifax Credit Reporting delete the inaccurate information immediately, including the incorrect addresses associated with my XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) account and remove freeze alert. Additionally, I request that they compensate me for the financial losses and emotional distress I have endured as a result of their inaccurate reporting. I urge you to take immediate action against Equifax Credit Reporting and ensure that they comply with the laws that protect consumers ' rights. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX
