I'm a victim of Identity Theft since 2020 due to the data breach of Equifax. Since 2020 I've been dealing with countless situation in regard to this matter. I received communication from credit card companies and debt collectors in regard to accounts that were not mine. Due to fear and lack of knowledge of the law, I start making payment, even when I know this accounts were not mine. Now I received legal advice from my lawyer, that guide me to open an Identity Theft Report and send a formal complaint using CFPB. I have been trying to get in contact with the consumer report agencies without success. They are not working diligent in their investigation to solve this problem. As an evidence of the lack of investigation ; I asked XXXX to remove an account from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX # XXXX ) that is not mine and they responded that the account was verify. At the same time I asked the issuer of the card to remove the information from my credit report and they send me a letter with this information : " We received a request to remove your name from the account number referenced above. Our records indicated your name is not on the account. '' Clearly, the agencies are not doing a properly investigation, causing me more harm. I called XXXX to report Hard Inquires that were not authorized and they told me that there is anything they can do about that matter. I'm not asking for too much, just to have my consumer report clear of accounts that are not mine. All my correct account are from XXXX XXXX, were I currently live. I have account in local Credit Unions that have been paid accordingly. I didn't apply for credit card in Banks in the USA. This XXXX accounts are from stores that I dont even purchase any goods. Some are too far away from my home that I dont even have visit before. I don't know why the consumer reporting agencies don't have an specialist that can review the accounts and compare all the history to identify that the information reported can be XXXX. I'm tired of dealing with this sittuation and the next steps is going to be a legal one, if this complaint is not process properly.
