Consumer Narrative

On XX/XX/XXXX, I received an email from a credit monitoring service indicating that a new account was added to my XXXX account. Upon further investigation, the account that was being reported was a new collection account. I contacted the XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ) and was informed that XXXX was reporting to Credit Management LLC a collection for XXXX XXXX and that I needed to contact XXXX for details. I contacted Credit Management and spoke with XXXX XXXX who informed me that this company was handling the collection and that she could take a payment. I explained to XXXX XXXX that services were never provided by XXXX and that the charges they were reporting were inaccurate. I requested that Credit Management LLC and XXXX XXXX send me what documents they used to validate the debt from XXXX and she informed me that she didn't have such documentation and that I needed to contact the original creditor for that information. Upon contacting XXXX the same day by chat, I spoke with agent XXXX, who informed me that the information that I was told was reflected on my credit report was not visible to her and that I needed to wait 2 weeks - 30 days for it to show on my credit file and then dispute it. I requested that she dispute the account and send me all signed documents showing that the " alleged '' debt was mine. XXXX informed me that she could not dispute the account since it wasn't visible to her and that she didn't have the documents that I requested and to contact XXXX directly for dispute. On XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted XXXX and spoke with agent XXXX who informed me that she didn't see the account that was being reported and that XXXX does not provide proof that debts are valid, and that I would need to go to the original creditor to request this information. XXXX transferred me to the Fraud Department within XXXX where I spoke with Supervisor XXXX and requested that he dispute the item and send me a copy of the original contract, with my signature establishing services, and was informed that they didn't have that documentation. I informed him that according to the FCRA Section 609, I am allowed " proof '' that this debt was validated and all contracts/documents used to validate this account. XXXX indicated that he would file a dispute ( Dispute ID XXXX ) but could not send proof that the debt was mine and validated as being mine. I contacted the original credit XXXX XXXX and spoke with XXXX who transferred me to XXXX. XXXX informed me that she saw the account but couldn't send me any documentation showing proof that the account in the collection was actually my debt. I requested that this documentation be sent as it was my right under the law FCRA Section 609, she informed me to contact an attorney.
