I have previously filed a complaint with the CFPB and the response from Weltman , Weinberg & Reis Co, LPA that is handling the debt collection case for XXXX, XXXX is not correct. Yes - Weltman, Weinberg & Reis, did provide the original loan agreement from 20+ years ago for the furniture debt, from XXXX XXXX that went out of business. This loan was consolidated into my Mortgage and was included in my Judgement in PA when my home was foreclosed on in the early XXXX 's. Furthermore, Weltman, Weinberg & Reis did notify me AFTER they received a judgement for this debt in XXXX XXXX XXXX, however, I was not made aware or notified of the debt at that time nor the court date. I was not living in PA during this time, and was only notified by correspondence to my new address in Ohio AFTER the judgement was obtained. I have requested to have a hearing in XXXX XXXX XXXX with XXXX XXXX and have provided paperwork to the courts. I have offered since being in contact with the debt collector on 3 separate occasions a settlement on the original amount of the debt. The debt has increased from XXXX to over 12,000.00 due to a 6 % interest rate that the attorneys nor XXXX, XXXX will stop. WE NEED HELP IN RESOLVING THIS!. We are now being threatened again with garnishment papers. When I contacted the atty 's office on XX/XX/XXXX, they stated that the account notes show NO SETTLEMENT. The collector was very rude and stated that they tried to contact me and their collection notes show no answer. I proposed a settlement on the original amount as I have acknowledged the debt, however, I do not agree on the unscrupulous business tactics that were done to obtain a judgement and NOT STOP THE INTEREST from accruing all these years.
