I am disputing a credit card lawsuit with the plaintiff as XXXX XXXX being represented by Weltman Weinberg & Reis. I was served papers by the county Sheriff around XX/XX/XXXX with a motion to sue stating that I owe a balance of XXXX but the paperwork did not have an itemized breakdown. I responded back within the 20 days given asking for validation of the debt. However I did not hear back from the law firm again until XX/XX/XXXX with a motion to move the court case to my current county of residence. At this time, I asked a lawyer for help with whom I thought had settled the case due to the lawyer finding discrepancies in the paperwork and process. However in XX/XX/XXXX I received another motion from the creditor asking for a judgement in the court for the amount of XXXX ( a change in the amount owed ). This time the paperwork included more information however the itemized statements still do not add up to XXXX and are not easily legible. Also the paperwork has an address that I have never lived at. I responded to this motion as well and recently received paperwork stating that I now have a court date set for XX/XX/XXXX. I am not aware of the date that this credit card was opened and the amount owed has shifted from XXXX to XXXX. I received a response from law firm of the debt being validated but never received proof of the debt such as original contract with signature and a complete list of itemized charges totaling the alleged amount owed. I attempted to call XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX but they stated the account is being held by Weltman, Weinberg & Ries. XXXX XXXX did offer to open a dispute due to the discrepancies however someone recommended to put a complaint in with CFPB due to in the past the law firm has taken over 1 year to respond to previous request and I now have a court date set.
