Consumer Narrative

Spoke to a representative in the dispute department by the name of XXXX in regards to the investigation taken longer than the 30 days allowed by the CFPB. I informed XXXX that I did not receive the results to my dispute or an updated copy of my consumer report. I also explained that my complaint submitted through the CFPB is also still open. I asked XXXX to honor the fair credit reporting act and remove the accounts listed in my consumer report. XXXX stated that the dispute was completed on XX/XX/23 and proceeded to tell me what was deleted and what remained. he then stated that he could send me the results. I informed XXXX that I have no proof that this was completed in the time allowed. I explained that I was not notified via mail or through the CFPB of the results and because of that I would like for him to honor the FCRA and remove the accounts from my consumer report. XXXX, on a recorded line stated that Equifax will not be complying with the Fair Credit reporting act at this time and that all he can do is send me the information or I can call the creditors that verified accounts. I reminded XXXX that in order for me to make that call I would need the names of the companies that allegedly verified these account in front of me and since I did not receive these results in 30days I can't make that call. XXXX then stated that a letter was sent to me. When the tracking number for the letter was requested XXXX stated that he doesn't have one. I asked to be transferred and XXXX refused. A representative from Equifax stated that they do not honor the 30 day dispute rule under the FCRA in which they are governed by. The consumer reporting agencies have an obligation to act fair, equitable and impartial.
