I am in the process of purchasing a new home and applied for a pre-authorization letter through my local credit union. The next day beginning at XXXX I began being bombarded with calls from lenders offering their products. When I asked how they got my number they said they had received it from Experian and XXXX. I have received 10 calls and 1 text in the last 3 hours!!!! In order for me to have a loan I have to have a credit report run and Experian, XXXX and XXXX are the bureaus who can run this. It is INCREDIBLY unethical that institutions who have access to my personal information and who I have no choice but to use for credit reporting can turn around and sell my information for their own financial gain to other brokers. As the CFPB I would suspect that you would see this as a gross violation of CONSUMERS and you should therefore be PROTECTING us from these types of issues occurring. I hope you will take this matter seriously and put process in place to fulfil your civil role.
