I received a collection call from XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/23. Not being familiar with the debt they were referring to, I asked them to send the information in writing. They did. When I received it, I saw it was an unfamiliar retail credit card. I checked my credit report to ensure it wasn't something I forgot about or could be a tip off to potential identify theft. Nothing was listed on my credit report that could tie back to the debt they are trying to collect. On XX/XX/23 a gentleman named XXXX XXXX called me to attempt to collect this debt again ( stating again my wages would soon be garnished for the debt ). When I told him it was never mine, verified on my credit report, and seemed to be an attempt at skip tracing, he said my file was no longer in their system and I should stop calling them, and hung up. Assuming it was an overwhelmed employee, I called the number at the top of the form they sent me, which was disconnected. I called the number on the company web site and it rang back to XXXX XXXX. I asked if I needed to submit a written dispute to close the file and he hung up the phone.
